My trip to Singapore got me flagged at customs over a pack of gum
I brought a pack of mint gum from home on a layover in Singapore last year, and an officer pulled me aside because it's banned there. Turns out they outlawed gum in 1992 to keep public spaces clean, and I almost got a fine for forgetting to check. Has anyone else run into surprise bans like this while traveling through different countries?

Just toss it in a checked bag next time or declare it if you're unsure. Customs people usually just give a warning if you're honest about it. I always triple check my pockets before going through now.

Yeah @tylerr39 gets it. Checked bag is the safest bet.
