Question about the 41 books my local library pulled from the shelves in one go
I grew up in a small town near Amarillo, and back then the librarian just kind of looked the other way when a kid checked out stuff way above their age level. Fast forward to this spring, and the county pulled 41 titles in a single meeting, no public reading of the list, just gone. It hit me that the kids there now won't even get the chance to sneak a book past anyone, and that feels like a real loss for a small place. Has anyone dealt with a library board doing a quiet purge like this, and did showing up to the meetings actually do anything?
