Spent 4 hours on a VPN workaround to read a blocked article from Turkey, then a librarian in Ankara just emailed me the PDF
Back in March I was trying to read a piece from a news site that got blocked over there, and I burned 4 hours testing proxies and browser settings that all failed. I finally gave up and posted in a forum thread about press limits, and a librarian at a university in Ankara offered to send me the file directly. Took her 20 minutes. Makes me wonder how much of this censoring really holds up when people just help each other out. Has anyone else had a blocked site get handed to them some way easier than the tech fix?
