That time I got dinged for sharing a documentary link in a closed group
I used to think any link sharing was fine until my membership in a private film club got suspended for posting a BBC documentary that's banned in India. It was about the 2002 Gujarat riots. Now I check the country restrictions on every source URL before I share anything. Has anyone else run into a situation where a documentary or article got someone in trouble just for existing online?

Miles you remind me of that whole mess with the Kerala Story documentary that got blocked in a bunch of places and people were sharing it like crazy in private groups. I read somewhere that even a college professor got flagged by their university for just putting a link to it in the class reading list. It's wild how a simple URL can turn into a whole legal drama. Makes me miss the internet from like ten years ago when nobody thought twice about clicking on a link.

Got suspended from a book club once for sharing a link to a PDF of a history textbook that was technically still under copyright. The mod acted like I personally photocopied the whole thing and stapled it to their front door. I felt like a digital criminal for trying to help people save fifty bucks on a used college textbook. Now I run every URL through a mental checklist like it's airport security before I click send.
