That VPN I bought to access blocked news sites was a total scam

Last month I dropped $80 on a VPN that claimed to bypass censorship in 50 countries. Turns out it couldn't even get past a simple government block on Al Jazeera's website. I wasted 3 hours trying to connect and just got error messages. Anyone else fall for a shady VPN that promised access but delivered nothing?

Wait, did you actually pay $80 for a VPN without checking if it had a money-back guarantee first? Most legit VPNs will let you test them out for a week or two before they take your cash. I get that you were frustrated trying to get past those blocks, but spending that much on a service that couldn't even do basic stuff is rough. The problem is probably that the VPN you bought wasn't actually designed for bypassing government censorship - some of them are just for hiding your IP from ads or torrents. Next time try looking for ones with obfuscation features or servers in countries with less strict internet laws, and always refund policy before you buy.

Most legit VPNs will let you test them out" - actually most of them don't offer a free trial, they just have a 30 day refund policy which is a pain to actually get your money back from.
