Took 11 days to get a VPN that works in Turkey, my mistake on the first one
Flew into Istanbul last month and my usual VPN got blocked within 2 hours, wasted $60 on a service that does nothing over there. Finally found one that held after 3 tries, but does anyone else have a list of tools that actually survive in countries with strict filtering like Turkey or China?

That whole situation reminds me of trying to get a solid signal on my old flip phone back in the day, you could be standing right next to a tower and still get nothing but static. Anyway, the trick with these strict countries is to avoid the big brand names, they get flagged fast. Load up a few smaller, less known tools before you travel, and test them at a cafe with free wifi first. Also, having a backup number that supports local data plans saved my butt in a pinch once, you never know when your main setup just dies.
