Finally got my hands on a banned kids book from 1975
I found a copy of "The Little Red Schoolhouse" at a garage sale last Saturday for 50 cents. It was banned in three states back in the 70s for showing a teacher with a tattoo. I read it to my niece and she just laughed at the pictures. Anyone else find an old banned book that seemed totally harmless by today's standards?

Oh man, that's a great find. I actually tracked down a copy of "The Garbage Can Man" (a 1974 book about a guy who lives in a dumpster) and it was banned because some school board thought it would make kids want to become homeless. I read it to my nephew expecting some wild outlaw content and it's literally just a story about recycling and being nice to janitors. I laughed at myself for thinking it would be edgy. My life is not nearly as exciting as my book collection makes me look.

Heard about that one on a podcast about banned books actually. The host was saying how most banned kids books are just wholesome stuff that some adult got weird about. I think there's one called "The Rabbits' Wedding" that got banned because someone thought two bunnies holding hands was promoting gay marriage or something, and it's literally just a story about bunnies being friends. Makes you realize how desperate people are to find something to be outraged about lol.
