Just saw a librarian in Nashville pull a copy of 'The Bluest Eye' off the shelf last Thursday

She said a parent complained about the language but I'd bet it's the way Morrison talks about race that got it flagged. Anyone else notice how certain books get quietly removed without a formal ban?

Just saw a librarian in Nashville pull a copy" reminds me of when my aunt's book club got shut down for reading Beloved.

Oh man, I gotta jump in here real quick. That's a wild story about your aunt's book club, but I think there's a mix-up with the book. Beloved by Toni Morrison is not banned in Nashville or Tennessee as of now. The whole thing with the librarian pulling a copy might be about a different book or a different county. Nashville libraries actually have Beloved on their shelves, it's a Pulitzer winner and all. Your aunt's group probably got shut down for something else, maybe a noise complaint or a private property issue.
