The Handmaid's Tale isn't banned because of the politics, it's banned because of the sex scenes
People keep acting like Texas schools are pulling Atwood because of the feminist themes, but I checked the actual complaint forms from 3 districts and every single one cited the graphic sexual content in chapters 23 and 33. Why do we pretend it's always about ideology when it's usually just parents being uncomfortable with explicit stuff?

Wait, have you actually seen the complaint forms? Because I had a friend who worked in a school library for like 3 years, and she told me parents would flip out over the weirdest stuff. One time a mom demanded they pull a book because a character said "damn" on page two, but the same parent was fine with her kid reading Stephen King. She said the Handmaid's Tale complaints always came down to the graphic parts, not the politics. People don't want to admit that though, it sounds better to say you're fighting for free speech than to say you just don't want your kid reading about sexual violence.

@blake_smith is right, I saw the actual complaint for my kid's school and it was all about those rape scenes.
