Vent: my kid's school pulled a book about a penguin family from the library, so I sat in the pickup line and read it out loud

When my daughter was in 2nd grade her school did the same thing with a book about two mommies. I called the district office and asked for the policy in writing. They couldn't produce one because there wasn't a real policy, just one librarian making a call. Two weeks later the book was back on the shelf. Ask for the policy in writing, that's my advice. Most of the time they back down once there's a paper trail.
