Why does nobody talk about the censorship in translated cookbooks

Picked up a translated Iranian cookbook at a library sale last month. Recipes looked fine but the intro was gutted. No mention of the author's original story about cooking during the 1979 revolution. Found the original online and compared. They cut whole sections about food shortages and rationing. Feels like erasing history one recipe at a time. Has anyone else caught this in translated books from other countries?
