A chat with my cousin in Phoenix made me think about why some bans backfire
We were talking about a local Facebook group that booted him for arguing about water rights. He said getting banned just made him start a whole blog about it, and now more people read his stuff than ever. I always figured a ban was the end of the road, but he said it forced him to find a better place to speak. Has anyone else found a platform that actually grew their voice after a shutdown?

Tiny Facebook group" is the part that got me... that's where everyone is these days. Getting cut off from your whole town's chat is a big deal, not some small thing. It makes sense he had to go build his own spot just to be heard again.

Wait, he got banned over water rights? That's the most Arizona thing I've ever heard. Of course it backfired, you can't shut people up about something that important out there. Getting kicked off a tiny Facebook group is the best thing that could've happened to him, it forced him to actually build his own spot. Happens all the time, platforms think a ban is a full stop but it's really just a redirect.
