Blew $150 on a "premium" VPN that sold my data anyway
Signed up for that VPN that all the privacy bloggers were pushing, figured it was worth the cash to browse without worry. Two months in, my email got spammed with targeted ads based on sites I'd visited while it was supposedly running. What service actually works without selling you out?

Nah, gotta disagree here. You probably clicked "agree" on something that let them share your data, that's on you not the VPN. Plus @nina_clark's story about ending up on a random forum is just how the web works sometimes, not proof of a leak. $150 is steep but most "premium" services do exactly what they say if you read the fine print.

Guess my "secure browsing" just gave someone else a good laugh too.

Tbh that "secure browsing" thing is a joke half the time. I remember last week I was looking up how to fix a squeaky door hinge and somehow ended up on a forum where someone was arguing about the best way to pickle eggs. Had no idea how I got there, just kept clicking.
