Got a 7 day ban from a local history group for pointing out a statue date was wrong

The plaque on the old courthouse statue in my town says it was put up in 1921. I found city council records showing the vote was actually in 1923. I posted a photo of the record page and got banned for 'causing trouble.' It matters because if we can't fix small, clear facts, how do we talk about the big stuff? I just started a simple blog on a free site to post the records there instead. Has anyone else had to move a whole conversation somewhere else just to share proof?

That's wild they banned you over a date correction. What kind of history group doesn't want accurate history? Did the mods give any real reason, or just the "causing trouble" line?

causing trouble" is their go-to line, same thing happened to me for pointing out a map error.

Point out a map error and suddenly you're a troublemaker, yeah sounds about right. I checked their rules once, it's basically "don't disagree with anything we post." They probably spent hours making that graphics or whatever and can't handle being wrong. Honestly, getting banned from a Facebook history group is like getting kicked out of a library, not the end of the world.
