Got banned from a gardening forum for asking about 'weed' control

I mean, I posted a question about vinca vs. ivy for ground cover and someone went off on me about invasive species. Next thing I know, I got a 30 day ban for 'promoting harmful plants'. The mod said I was 'endangering native ecosystems' over a borderline joke about my neighbor's lawn. Has anyone else gotten nuked over something that was clearly just a misunderstanding?

I mean, the 'endangering native ecosystems' bit feels like a stretch over a ground cover question, but invasive species stuff is a big deal to some gardeners. Idk, maybe the mods had a bad day or you hit a nerve with the joke, but a 30 day ban still seems like a lot for a first offense. Then again, forums can be weirdly strict about that kinda thing, so I kinda get where they're coming from even if the execution was heavy handed.
