Got banned from a hiking forum for calling out a route they swore was safe

Last month I posted a warning about a trail in the Smokies after my group turned back at mile 7 because the markers were gone and the creek was chest high. The mods said I was fear mongering and gave me a 10 day ban, then deleted my thread. I still think they were protecting a sponsor who sells guided trips on that exact path. I screenshot everything and shared it on a local meetup page instead, got 40 replies from people with similar stories. Why do mods pick corporate safety over real hiker warnings? Has anyone else lost a useful review to a forum's cash flow?
