Got banned from a local FB group for calling out a fake mechanic story

Some dude posted in our town's buy nothing group about how he fixed his neighbor's car for free, but I knew the neighbor and the car had been sitting dead for months. I called him out and the admin banned me for 'negativity' instead of the scam story. Has anyone else been silenced for just telling the truth in local groups?

Honestly, that's how those groups always work. They care more about keeping the peace than actually stopping scams. The admins don't want drama so they just ban whoever makes noise. I got booted from my neighborhood group for pointing out a guy was flipping free stuff for profit on Marketplace. The admin said I was "causing issues" but the guy was literally driving around picking up donated furniture and selling it same day. The whole "buy nothing" idea gets twisted into a status thing for the people running it. You're better off not bothering with those groups, they're more about ego than community.

Three months ago I got banned from a local gardening group for posting a picture of my tomato plants that had some kind of fungus. The admin said it was "gross and upsetting" and that I should have put a trigger warning. Meanwhile people were posting blurry photos of mystery insects asking for ID all the time and that was fine. I guess my moldy tomatoes crossed some invisible line nobody told me about.
