Got banned from a local hiking FB group for mentioning trail erosion near Eagle Creek

I posted a photo showing how much the trail had worn down after that busy summer, and the admin said I was 'spreading negativity.' It took me three appeals over 8 weeks to get back in, and I only got reinstated after I agreed to stop posting about environmental impacts. Has anyone else been kicked out of a community just for pointing out something that needed fixing?

...and here I was thinking my trail erosion photos might get me a spot on the local news or at least a nod from the park rangers. Nope, just a one-way ticket to ban city. I feel like I'm the only one who shows up to a community potluck and points out the beans are slightly undercooked. But hey, at least you got back in after groveling. I'm still waiting on my appeal from the "No Fun Allowed" admin.

Did you try framing it as a safety warning instead, that worked for me.

I mean hold on, the admin has a point though. If every single post in a hiking group was just people complaining about trail conditions it would get old fast. Those FB groups are supposed to be about sharing cool hikes and tips not turning into a complaint department. You're basically asking the mods to do extra work approving posts that make the whole page look bad. And honestly trail erosion is just part of hiking, the rangers know about it already, they don't need your photo to fix it. Sometimes you gotta read the room and save that stuff for a personal blog or a direct message to the park service instead of making the whole group feel guilty about their weekend plans.
