Got booted from a local Facebook group for posting about a closed park trail

I live near the Pine Ridge trails in Oregon, and last month they blocked off the main path without any notice. I posted a photo of the chain link fence with a comment asking why it happened. The group admin deleted my post within an hour and banned me, saying it was 'causing drama'. I realized they just wanted a happy echo chamber, not real talk about our town. How do you keep sharing local news when the main online spot shuts you down?

Ben's point about a city council note is good, but I wonder if the admin has a personal tie to the closure. Maybe they work for the parks department or know the landowner. They could be shutting down talk to avoid bad press. In my town, a guy running a group turned out to be the developer's cousin. Try looking up the admin's name in local meeting minutes online. If you find a link, share that fact quietly with neighbors you trust offline. It turns a drama complaint into a real question about hidden interests.

You said they blocked it off without any notice, but are you sure there wasn't a sign or a city council note somewhere? Sometimes those updates get buried. Getting banned for asking is totally over the top though. Maybe start a simple blog or a new group focused on local issues, and share the link in other community spaces. It's frustrating when the main group just wants pretty pictures and no real talk. What other spots do people in your town use to share news?
