Got my account locked for posting about a local election on a city subreddit

I posted a link to a public record showing a candidate in our Phoenix city council race had three unpaid property tax liens. The mods said it was 'targeted harassment' and locked my account for 30 days. I moved the whole post to my own blog with screenshots of the county assessor's site. Has anyone else had a local subreddit shut down basic fact checking?

That "targeted harassment" label for sharing public records is a real problem. I saw a similar case last year where a school board candidate's bankruptcy filing was called "doxxing" and removed. When basic facts from government sites get banned, it just makes people trust the whole process less. Your move to a personal blog was probably the right call.

It's like with everything now, even local Facebook groups are removing posts about public meetings because someone complained it was "targeted." My neighbor got a warning for sharing a town council member's voting record from the official town website. People are starting to just not bother sharing any government info, which hurts everyone trying to stay informed in their own community.

Public records are public for a reason. Calling it harassment just because someone doesn't like the info seems weak. That bankruptcy filing is a matter of court record, not some secret dug up. Platforms are too quick to pull stuff down to avoid any hassle. It just pushes real discussions to the darker corners of the internet.
