My old forum got nuked over a joke about moderation, now I see the shift

I mean, the mods banned me for a sarcastic comment about their power trips back in 2019, and this week I watched the same kind of joke get deleted in a new group within 10 minutes. It's wild how the tone went from 'we're all here to talk' to 'rules first, people second', has anyone else noticed that change in your communities too?

You said "rules first, people second" but honestly I think it's the opposite. The rules are the same now as they were back then, the mods are just way better at enforcing them quietly. Back in 2019 you could get away with a sarcastic jab for a few hours before anyone noticed. Now the auto-mod catches that stuff instantly, so it feels like the whole culture shifted when really the tech just got faster at deleting it.
