My union rep in Toledo talked me out of filing that grievance, good call

I was ready to fight a suspension for calling out a safety hazard on site, but my rep, Dave, said the wording in my report could get me flagged as insubordinate. He showed me a past case from 2021 where a similar complaint got someone permanently banned from two job sites in Ohio. I rewrote it as a formal hazard notice instead, no retaliation, and the issue got fixed in 3 days. Has anyone else had a rep or lawyer talk them into a quieter route that actually worked better?

My buddy in Cleveland had a rep do the same thing for him last year, worked out great.
