PSA: I used to think getting a new email was enough after a ban...
Got banned from a local Facebook group in Austin for calling out a mod's false info about a city council vote, number 7. I figured a fresh Gmail account would let me back in, but they flagged my IP after just two posts. It made me realize the fight isn't about getting back into one place, it's about finding other spots to say the thing. Anyone else find a good forum that doesn't just rely on email checks?

Honestly, that IP block sounds like good moderation. Groups need rules to stop people from just making new accounts to cause trouble after a real ban. Maybe the focus should be on why the ban happened, not how to get around it. Finding another place to argue the same point just spreads the same fight.

IP blocks can be a lazy way to moderate that punishes shared networks, like families or public wifi. Sometimes a ban is wrong or too harsh, and people should be able to appeal or discuss it. Cutting off all access just shuts down any chance to fix a mistake. It treats everyone like a troublemaker instead of dealing with the actual problem.
