Rant: A mod on r/history told me to stop posting sources 3 years ago
I was deep in a thread about medieval farming and posted a link to a peer reviewed journal. A mod messaged me and said links were considered spam and to just summarize instead. Two months later I got banned for 'low effort posting' because my summaries were too short. I still have the message. Anyone else get contradictory rules from forum mods?

Totally feel your pain on this one. It's SO frustrating when the rules change without warning and then you get punished for following what they told you before. That kind of mixed messaging just makes you feel like you can't win no matter what you do.

Classic mod logic right there. "Hey, don't post sources, just summarize." So you summarize and now it's "low effort." Did they want a full dissertation on crop rotation from memory? Sounds like they just wanted to see you sweat. I half expect the next message to be "You're banned for breathing too loud.
