Shoutout to that $200 water filter I bought after Flint
Back in 2016 when Flint was all over the news I got scared about our city water quality. I dropped $200 on a countertop filter system that attaches to the faucet. Figured it was a waste but better safe than sorry. Fast forward to now and that thing has saved me from three boil water advisories and I haven't bought bottled water in years. The carbon cartridges cost $40 every 6 months but it's still cheaper than cases of water. Has anyone else put money into something like that and had it pay off long term?

Dropped $150 on a Berkey filter a few years back after a bad algae bloom in the reservoir. Thought I was being extra but then I started noticing my tap water tasted like a swimming pool. The filters last forever if you maintain them right. Plus it filters out more than the usual stuff, like heavy metals and pesticides that slip through city treatment. Made me wonder why more people don't just buy a good filter instead of trusting the utility company on blind faith.

My wallet still hasn't forgiven me for that $150 either. I thought I was being smart until I realized I spent my whole grocery budget on fancy water.
