TIL my old forum account got nuked for correcting a fact about the 2008 financial crisis

Back in 2012, on a big political forum, I posted a direct quote from a Senate report showing a specific bank's role. The thread was locked, and my account was gone the next morning for 'disruptive behavior.' I just had the facts from the source material. It taught me to save screenshots and keep talking, just more carefully. Has anyone else been banned for something that was just verifiably true?

That's rough, but not surprising. Seen it happen a lot over the years. Got a buddy who got booted from a car forum for posting the factory service manual specs that contradicted a popular mod. They just called it 'stirring up drama' and wiped his account. Your screenshot folder is a smart move, honestly. It's the only way to prove you weren't just making stuff up.

Got banned from a hobby forum for posting a link to the official rulebook that proved the mod was wrong about a game mechanic. I mean, it was right there in the PDF. After that, I started saving everything. I keep a folder on my desktop with screenshots and links, and I just paste the plain text now instead of linking. It's annoying but it works.
