Banned from our work app over a chat about flexible hours
Boss sent a memo cutting flex time. I replied in the app saying it penalizes parents. HR flagged my comment as negative. They said I was disrupting team harmony. I asked for a discussion thread. Next login, my account was suspended. Lost access to all my work chats and files.

My old foreman used to lock the gang box if someone complained about start times. It was just a power move, not a real policy. That story from margaret692 sounds like the same playbook. Maybe they just want to scare people into being quiet about the new rules.

My friend Mark (a dad with two little ones) got in trouble for something similar. He emailed his team about how new clock-in rules hurt caregivers, you know, people with kids or elderly parents. Management called it 'creating dissent' and locked him out of the project folder for a week. He missed deadlines because he couldn't reach his files, which was a huge mess. It felt like they just wanted to silence any pushback.

Read an article last week about a tech firm doing the same thing. They changed clock-in rules and fired someone for complaining in a team chat. That person was a single dad with a sick kid. The company said he was causing trouble, but everyone knew it was about control. It got messy when the labor board got involved. Just shows how common this crap is.
