Dropped $200 on a VPN two years ago and it got my account back after a permaban
I got kicked off a forum I had been on for 6 years because of a comment about local zoning rules. Mods said it was off topic, which it kind of was, but not ban worthy. So I paid $200 for two years of a VPN mainly so I could make a new account without getting flagged by my IP. That part worked fine, but the weird part is what else it did. A few months later I got banned from a subreddit for a joke about traffic lights and used the same VPN to post a polite appeal under a different name. That one got accepted, and I think the IP switch is why. Now I keep the VPN running on my phone all the time, mostly out of habit. $200 felt dumb at the time but its saved me from a few silent bans since. Has anyone else paid for a tool mostly to get around a ban and ended up using it for other stuff too?
