Finally got un-shadowbanned from that local news comment section after 6 months of appeals

I sent 14 support tickets over half a year just for posting a link to a city council meeting transcript, so has anyone else dealt with a platform that won't even tell you why you're muted?

I mean, I get being frustrated with the system, but honestly I kind of see it from the other side too. Those comment sections are a nightmare to moderate, especially when local news sites get swamped with bots and people posting straight up conspiracy theories. Maybe they just have a really simple filter that catches certain links automatically, and the mods are too swamped to look at each appeal carefully. It sucks that you got caught in it, but I bet they deal with hundreds of people a day claiming they got unfairly banned when they were actually posting something against the rules.

Yeah, but most of those sites use automated filters that are way more basic than people think, not some nuanced system that gets bogged down with appeals. A lot of times it's just a straight keyword block that catches anything with a certain string in the link, and nobody's even double checking it.
