Got 500 downvotes on a post saying I liked the new Reddit layout

I didn't even say anything wild, just mentioned I prefer the default sorting now. Has anyone else been shocked by how fast the pile-on happens for a harmless opinion?

One of my old posts about preferring sorted by new got 300 downvotes. I used to think people overreacted to downvotes. But seeing a harmless opinion get buried like that changed my mind. It's not logical, it's just a mob mentality thing.

See it everywhere now too, people just pile on even when they agree just cuz it's already happening. It's like once a few people start booing everyone joins in without thinking.
