Got slapped with a permanent ban from a gardening forum for saying I use Roundup on my driveway

Joined a local gardening group on Reddit to ask about fixing a drainage problem near my foundation. Mentioned I spray glyphosate on the gravel once a year to keep weeds from cracking the concrete. Didn't even get a warning. Just a message saying 'promoting harmful chemicals' and account nuked. I get it if I was telling people to spray their vegetable plots, but it's a driveway. Anyone else run into mods who don't care about context?

See it a bit differently here. Mods probably get flooded with bad advice about dumping harsh chemicals everywhere and have to draw a hard line somewhere. Using glyphosate on a driveway still sends runoff into soil and water systems, so isn't it fair they treat all herbicide talk the same way?

Flip that around though - if someone's careful with spot treatment on a driveway vs dumping a whole bottle of roundup on a garden bed, those are totally different situations. A blanket ban just lumps everyone together instead of looking at actual risk.

Hard agree, the mods are probably just trying to keep things manageable and safe lol. Getting flooded with "just dump bleach on everything" must get old fast.
