Hot take: I got a permanent ban on a big forum for correcting a map mistake
I was in a history group and posted a screenshot from a documentary, pointing out they'd used a modern map border for a 1914 event... My comment got flagged for 'spreading misinformation' and I was gone in an hour. The mods wouldn't even look at my sources. It taught me that some places just want an echo chamber, not facts. Has anyone else been banned for something that was objectively true?

Look at it from the mod's side though. They have to deal with tons of bad faith actors every day trying to sneak in false info with "reliable sources". Your correction, even if right, probably looked like just another one of those attempts to stir up trouble over a tiny detail. Their job is to keep the peace, not host a debate on every single post.

Saw a guy get booted from a cooking forum for correctly stating that tomatoes are fruit. The mods called it pedantic.
