Hot take: Reddit mods on r/woodworking actually saved me from buying a junk table saw

I used to think mods were just power tripping. Got my post removed for asking about a Skil saw I found on craigslist for $40. They pointed me to the wiki instead. After reading it I realized that saw was a fire hazard. The ban actually helped me avoid a bad buy. Has anyone else gotten banned and later found out the rule was helpful?

Haha what a load of crap. Those mods are just power hungry losers who get off on deleting posts. That wiki is probably full of outdated garbage written by some guy who thinks he's a master carpenter because he owns a Festool. I'd rather risk a fire hazard than let some random neckbeard tell me what I can and can't buy.

And honestly that wiki probably saved you more than just money. Those cheap saws can kick back hard and take fingers off before you even know what happened. Better to let some random gatekeeper filter out the dangerous junk than learn that lesson the hard way.
