I finally bought into that whole "banned for life" warning on a Facebook history group and it actually happened
I got permanently banned from a local history group for posting a newspaper clipping from 1943 that showed a controversial city council decision, and the admin told me "we don't do politics here" even though it was a straight historical fact, has anyone else gotten booted for sharing old public records?

Are you serious? That exact thing happened to me in my town's historical society group. Posted a 1950s census record showing a former mayor's property tax dispute and got the boot in under an hour with the same "no politics" excuse.

Are you serious" - yeah that's exactly what I thought reading your post, @wren_carr. That's wild that they'd kick you out over a 1950s tax dispute. I mean, that's history, not politics. The mayor has been dead for decades probably. It's like these mods have zero understanding of what historical records actually show. They just see the word "tax" and freak out. I bet the same people who booted you are the ones who post stuff like "those who forget history are doomed to repeat it" on their own walls. The double standard is ridiculous.
