Rant: Got a 30-day ban on a big history forum for correcting a map date

I posted a comment under a video about the 1990s Balkan conflicts, pointing out that a map they used showed borders from 2008, not 1995 (I even linked the CIA factbook archive). The mod message said I was 'spreading conflict' and banned me for a month. Has anyone else been hit for just giving a plain fact with a source?

Wasn't there a big thing a while back about a history channel using modern borders in a documentary about ancient Rome? I saw a whole thread where people got mad because it made the political situation look way simpler than it was. It feels like some mods just want to avoid any argument at all, even if you're just adding a fact. They see a correction and just assume it's going to start a fight. What's the point of a history forum if you can't point out a wrong date on a map?

That History Channel map was pretty bad, but people get too worked up over minor details. Most viewers just want the basic story, not a perfect border. It's not worth a huge fight online.
