Rant: Got banned from a local news site for correcting a map error

Last Tuesday, our town's online paper posted an article about a new park, but the map they included had the location wrong by about two miles. I commented with a link to the city's official planning site, pointing out the mistake. The next morning, my comment was gone and my account was suspended for 'spreading misinformation.' I tried emailing the editor directly with the proof, but they never replied. Has anyone else been banned just for sharing a simple, verifiable fact?

Did a friend get banned for fixing a typo in a recipe comment last year?

My local paper once banned me for correcting their spelling of "cemetery." They printed a retraction the next week but never lifted the ban, so I guess we're even.

The Daily Gazette in my town banned me for three months after I pointed out they wrote "trespassing" as "trespassing" in a front-page headline. I even sent them a screenshot of the dictionary entry, which I guess rubbed them the wrong way. They ended up running a correction box in the very next edition but still wouldn't let me post. My wife says I should have just let it go, but I still check their spelling every morning.
