Hot take: That meme about the mayor got way more traction after the takedown notice
I posted a sarcastic meme about a local council decision in Detroit and it got flagged within 3 hours, but the screenshot I shared of the removal email blew up to 50k views. Does taking something down just guarantee it spreads further, or is that just how the algorithm works here?

Yeah, you just learned the Streisand Effect the hard way. I've had this happen with a local business review I posted. The moment they threatened to sue, my little complaint got shared around like crazy. Once a takedown notice gets filed, people automatically assume you're hiding something important. The algorithm also favors engagement, and outrage or controversy gets more clicks and shares than a boring meme. So yeah, taking something down almost guarantees it spreads further, especially if you post the proof of censorship. If you want to avoid this in the future, either post anonymously or be ready for the blowup before you hit submit.

Why would anyone admit they tried to censor something if they weren't already guilty?
