Realized I was sharing memes with no context for years

Last month I posted a banned meme about police violence in a group, and someone replied asking what the original source was. I just assumed everyone knew the backstory because I did, but they didn't. It hit me that I'd been sharing these things without explaining why they got banned or what the actual issue was. Now I always add a line or two about the context so people can actually learn something. Has anyone else had a similar wake-up call about how they share this stuff?

Last year I was in a group that still uses the old "dancing is forbidden" meme format and I posted one about the local school board banning books without explaining the whole history of that meme coming from a Soviet anti-western propaganda poster. Three people thought I was literally talking about a ban on dancing at school dances. I had to do a whole history lesson in the comments.
