Back in 2014 I used to find these wild meme pages on Facebook that got nuked within a day, and you'd screenshot them and pass them around in DMs like contraband. Now it feels like every "banned" meme is either a watermarked repost from Reddit or some brand trying to look edgy for clicks. I noticed the shift around 2019 when a page I followed in Austin got shut down for a dumb joke about a senator, and three weeks later the same image was on a merch store. The actual tension is gone, it's just recycled outrage now. Anyone else remember when a banned meme actually cost someone their account, and that felt like something?
