TIL a 2018 UK meme ban trial actually cited a 1998 law about cattle, not the internet

Honestly, I was reading through the UK government's own PDF on the Carlisle case last week and found out the ban on that 'sheep counting' meme used the Cattle Trespass Act of 1998 as legal backing. They argued it could 'incite rural panic' even though the original post was just a joke about a farmer's spreadsheet. Ngl, the judge's quote about 'digital livestock' made me laugh and then made me mad because it showed how clueless the ruling was. Has anyone else dug into old laws being twisted for modern meme bans, or is this just a weird rabbithole I fell into?
