Unpopular opinion: that meme about the election got taken down faster than my old blog posts ever did

Back in 2015 I used to share political memes on Facebook without a second thought, nobody cared. But last month I posted a silly anti-censorship meme that referenced a specific 2020 event, and it was flagged within 2 hours. I tried reposting it on a smaller platform and even that got deleted after 50 shares. Has anyone else noticed how the rules changed so fast after 2016?

Wait, the smaller platform took it down too after only 50 shares? That actually shocks me. I figured the big sites were the only ones pushing the envelope on that kind of stuff. Definitely feels like after 2016 everything tightened up, like someone flipped a switch and the whole internet got paranoid overnight. I remember posting stuff back in the day and it would sit there for weeks until someone maybe told a joke about it in the comments. Now you blink and it's gone with no warning at all. The speed of it is what gets me, like they have bots just hovering over every post waiting to pounce.

Did the algorithm suddenly become self-aware after 2016 or what?

Just turn off autoplay and clear your watch history, helps a ton.
