Watched a meme get nuked by an auto-filter in 30 seconds, so I saved the whole thread
I was scrolling r/memes last Tuesday around 11pm when I saw a post about a news photo from Ukraine. Within 30 seconds it showed 'removed by Reddit' and the comments got locked, no mod explanation. I did not just sit there, I screenshotted the whole thing and archived it on Wayback Machine, and now that image is gone from two other sites too. I mean how does one platform's filter decide what the whole world gets to see? If you've seen something vanish like that, what did you do to keep a copy?
Archive.today is my go-to for stuff like that since it grabs the whole page plus the image, and I keep a folder of local saves on my phone for the really spicy ones. Screenshots work but people can call them fake, so having the archived URL with a timestamp is what actually wins arguments later.
