Got a warning for leaving upbeat sticky notes around campus

I started putting little notes with happy quotes on library tables and bathroom mirrors. The campus office said it was not allowed because they did not approve the messages. Now students hide notes in books and under chairs as a joke. It turned into a quiet protest that is pretty funny to watch.

My friend got written up for drawing smiley faces in sidewalk chalk last spring.

@masonwilson has a point about things seeming harmless. Like, chalk drawings are just temporary fun, right? (I mean, they wash away with rain.) But hearing about allen.oscar's friend getting written up for smiley faces is crazy. It reminds me of kids getting in trouble for hopscotch grids or writing 'hello' on driveways. Where do we draw the line between fun and rules? Stuff like that just makes public spaces feel less friendly.
