Got flagged by campus security at Ohio State for handing out copies of a speech policy I printed myself
I printed 200 copies of the school's own free speech policy and stood outside the Ohio Union on a Tuesday afternoon handing them to students. A campus officer came up within 10 minutes and told me I needed a permit to "distribute literature" even though the policy I was handing out says exactly the opposite in section 4. I pulled out the printed page, showed him the line about open forums, and asked him to point to which part I was breaking. He called a supervisor, they talked for 15 minutes, and I was allowed to keep going but they wrote down my name and student ID. Has anyone else had a school try to require a permit for something their own policy says you don't need one for?
