I counted 17 speaker disinvites at big colleges this past year
I was reading a report and saw that number. It surprised me because a few years back it was maybe half that. Most were for political talks, but some were about science or history topics. One case at a school in California was about a talk on ancient Rome that got pulled. It feels like the line for what gets a 'no' keeps moving. Has your campus had a speaker canceled for a reason that seemed really thin?

Honestly it's not just campuses, it's everywhere now. Feels like we're all walking on eggshells waiting for the next thing to get called out. Saw a local book club cancel a discussion because someone complained the author's views from ten years ago were problematic. The line isn't just moving, it's getting blurry and way too easy to cross over something minor. Makes you wonder what kind of talks we're missing out on because someone, somewhere, might get upset.

Seriously, my friend's talk on local bird migration got axed because the group name had "colonial" in it.
