Paid $600 for a 'free speech' seminar that got shut down by admin

Honestly, our club booked this guest speaker for a debate on campus policies and fronted $600 for the room and marketing, then the dean pulled the plug two hours before because he said the topic was 'too divisive'. We lost the money and got a lecture about 'community standards' in the same email. Has anyone else gotten burned like this after pre-paying for an event that never happened?
