They shut down a talk on campus history at my old school in Ohio

Back at Kent State, a professor tried to hold a public talk about the 1970 shootings from a local historian's view. The student government said it was 'too divisive' and pulled the room booking two days before. I was skeptical they'd really stop it, but seeing the official email canceling it over 'potential discomfort' convinced me. Has anyone else seen a talk get shut down for just being about tough history?

It's weird how the same people who talk about learning from history are the ones blocking it. Makes you wonder what they're actually afraid of.

From what I've read, the talk isn't actually cancelled-it's been moved to a different venue on campus, so they're technically still learning about it, just not where some might prefer.

That's actually at Kent State? The place where it happened. Canceling a talk about the shootings there over "potential discomfort" is just unreal. It's not some random topic, it's their own history. How can you deal with the real world if you hide from your own campus's past? This feels like a choice to stay ignorant on purpose.
