Took me 2 years to realize my college's free speech zone was basically the parking lot behind the science building
I kept trying to hand out flyers about the student walkout near the main quad and got told to move three times by campus security. Finally dug through the student handbook and found out the only place we could talk without permission was a 20 foot strip of asphalt behind the old chem building that floods every time it rains. Has anyone else found their school's approved speech area to be basically unusable?

Started an off-campus student group and met at the public library instead.

Oh man, that's smart! I once tried to start a club in my dorm common room and someone kept stealing our snacks. @emma768 you're probably saving a lot of headache by not dealing with campus bureaucracy too. The library has that quiet, serious vibe that actually helps people focus on the group stuff instead of goofing off. I still remember our first meeting, I showed up with a whole bag of chips thinking I'd be the hero and nobody even touched them. Maybe if I'd tried the library route I wouldn't have eaten my own feelings in regret.
