Warning: my campus club got shut down for trying to host a debate on the 2020 election results.
We reserved a room at the student union in Madison, but the admin pulled our permit 48 hours before, saying the topic 'posed a risk to student safety' and we had to cancel the whole thing.

Ever try a public pressure campaign? We got a similar shutdown reversed at my school by going straight to local news. Emailed three reporters with the admin's emails about "safety concerns" and had a story up in two days. The bad press made them fold and give us the room back.

Did you try getting a lawyer?

Legal fees add up fast and most people don't have that kind of money sitting around. A lawyer can drain your savings before you even get near a courtroom. River might not realize how many students work part time just to pay for books and rent. Public pressure costs nothing but time and a few emails. Going to the news is usually the smarter first move for anyone on a tight budget.
