Been using the same guard on my clippers for fades for three years. A client in Tacoma last week asked if I was 'going for the old school stair-step look'.

Oof, that's rough. I had a guard get dull and it started pulling hair instead of cutting. My fades looked choppy for a week before I figured it out. I just buy a new guard now every year, even if it seems fine. The cheap ones are like ten bucks, way better than a bad review.

My Wahl guard lasted three years before it started pulling hair too, @lindaj11.
